Welcome

Content Management Systems are implemented to satisfy specific business or technological requirements within an organization to assure, among many things, the consistent presentation of information about the organization to either the outside world (Internet), and/or inside the organization (Intranet). While CMS packages can have a wide variety of features, designs and technical implementations, a functioning, productive system should offer the following benefits:

  • Ease of use: The system should be updatable in a logical fashion without the need for expert (or even casual) technical assistance.
  • Design: A CMS should support the visual design intended by its creator, and not impose constrictions on layout.
  • Security: Adequate security should exist to ensure that only authorized personnel are able to add or make changes to the web or Intranet site.
  • Deployment: The CMS should deploy well to the intended environment, whether an internal server or an Internet Service Provider (ISP).
  • Cost: The system should fit with the organizations financial objectives, and minimize ongoing support costs.

In Conclusion

While certainly these are not all the benefits of a CMS, they highlight the core requirements for an organization that is considering implementing a publishing solution. The balance of this document details the user guide for the Solution Studio’s FUNNEL: CMS.
